Errr, yeah that's the problem though, I gave it to you under the assumption that you would likely not have a chance to use it or that if you did use it, it would only be under the direst of circumstances. I'm not a fan of player induced TPKs, or TPKs in general. So yeah I'll definitely not give out another item like this because I've found that pvp in D&D is rarely fun for all those involved, the item itself was overpowered and because I rather like my organs where they are. It also looks bad on me as a DM. It is a pretty cool item though, I still maintain that, mostly because Berserk is awesome. Woot.

I'm a fan of the possibility TPKs and pvp in D&D, makes the game more dynamic and difficult. I must be the odd man out >.>

I just find pvp ends more often in frustration and hurt feelings than good times for all, also I always end up feeling terrible if I kill a player as a PC and I'd rather just avoid it altogether. I think there should always be a risk of a TPK but only in extreme circumstances. PvP is really only fun if both parties involved want to do it and I really only find it acceptible if there are story reasons for it, and even then I'd like to try and avoid it from now on. Although dominate spells and whatnot are ok in my book for DMs to use against players, mostly because it creates the interesting and tough to handle situation where players have an enemy who they don't want to kill.

...where players have an enemy who they don't want to kill. Or just another enemy that they DO want to kill Also, in an adventuring group, there should always be those who have differing opinions, and if those opinions are strong enough to come to blows, then so be it

Yes, my "don't kill children" stance became very controversial

Apparently "don't kill mindflayer slaves" was hard to comprehend too
