So, this is Dane, master of all things Warhammer 40k, and sometime in the near future, I will be running a World of Darkness campaign. This will be after I finish running my rogue trader campaign, but other than that time frames are unknown.
Anyways: if you would like to play, I will be requiring (gasp, a DM requiring something?) actual character concepts, with atleast a paragraph of back-story, that means atleast 5 sentences, a name, a list of three sparks (the templates in world of darkness that you would be interested in having applied to your characters: these include, Changeling, Geist, Hunter, Mage, Promethean, Vampire, Werewolf.), a list of possesions, and a reason for your character to be living in (or visiting) Dog Hollows. Characters should be either distinctly residents, or not, with non-residents requiring less knowledge of the campaign setting than residents. Details are somewhat important: did the character live in Dog Hollows, did he drive there, go for a walk-about and end up there, or take a plane? I will be posting here as I organize ideas for this campaign. If anyone is interested in getting a head start on character creation, this is a prelude campaign with no templates, and no experience: everything you need for character creation should be in the nWoD (New World of Darkness) core rulebook. If you have questions just ask.
Below I will post a description of Dog Hollows, and sample character concepts to give some idea what I am looking for.

Name: James “Corvus” Albicollis
Virtue: Justice (James has a strong sense of justice. His father was a firefighter, and there have been several police officers in his family. James will try to do what’s best in almost any situation, and isn’t intimidated easily.)
Vice: Pride (James has a long lineage in this town, knows it better than most, and doesn’t like getting help from outsiders. He has a nasty mean strike for those disrespecting soldiers on either side of the civil war.)
Physical Description: James is short for a man, 4 inches short of six-foot tall, he has light green eyes and brown-black hair, streaks of grey appearing where the years have begun to show through. He wears a sturdy leather jacket, faded from rain and mistreatment, and his facial hair is unkempt and over grown, but not long. He’s skinny, but not frail, and light of foot. His bright white teeth redeem an otherwise unattractive face, but only when he smiles. James is 45.
Back-story: James has gone by his middle name 'Corvus' for as long as he can remember: his friends use that name, but individuals who knew his father, or who know his family still call him James. James has lived in Dog Hollow his entire life. His family, way back when Dog Hollow was just a speck off the highway, was a big part in making the town. One of his grandfathers was the sheriff, back before state police became the norm, and his father was Dog Hollow fire chief until he was sixty. He owns a small house on main-street, next to the fire station, and has lived there since moving out of his parent’s home. James knows a lot about the town, the traditions and lore of his birth-place, and is often seen in the library on his days off, or on his breaks from working as barkeep, and owner of the Dead Sparrow. While he doesn’t have any strong feelings on most subjects, James’ family are descended from a lesser-known confederate general, and an heirloom of his ancestor’s battle prowess, the looted rifle of a Union commander, is mounted over the mantle in his home.
Possessions:
House: Gardening Equipment (Chainsaw, Hedge Trimmer, Hoe, Shovel, etc…), Tools (Power Drill, Wood Saw, Tool-box, etc…), 1982 Mustang-GT (Red, On Blocks, V-8 engine with an output of 157hp), 1993 GMC 2500 Sierra, Brown. Spencer Repeating Carbine (.52 caliber): The first rifle with a detachable magazine to be used by any military was the Spencer repeater. The United States adopted it in 1863 under the personal endorsement of President Lincoln, and over 100,000 Spencers saw service on the Union side of the Civil War. Spencers are museum pieces today, with their copper-cased cartridges long since out of mass production.
Personal: Leather Jacket, Old Handcuffs without key (Pg. 173 WoD Armoury), Pocket Knife.
Sparks (in order of preference): 1) Hunter 2) Werewolf 3) Mage

name: Brent Hughson
Virtue: Faith (Not religious in any way, Brent has a firm beleif that everything is going to work out eventually.)
Vice: Sloth (Partially a consequence of his faith, Brent has a hard time motivating himself to do anything productive.)
Physical description: He looks like me, a few years down the road.
Backstory: After graduating from university Brent worked for a few years at a gas station and Canadian tire while looking for a job in his field. Eventually he got a call about an interview for the perfect job, but it was halfway across the country. Brent decided he would take some time off work and drive there, seeing some of the country in the process. So he set out. At the end of the second day, while in the middle of nowhere his car suddenly broke down on the side of the road with no one or thing in sight. His phone was dead, so he pulled out an old road map from under the seat. After a few minutes he found himself on the map and looked for a nearby town. Luckily there was a small town several kilometers down the road - Dog hollows. It was starting to get dark so he packed a bag with some water and a few of his things, then locked the car and headed off to the town.
Possessions: Roadmap, wallet, blackberry(dead battery), blackberry charger (wall socket), laptop with power chord and mouse, small blue exacto-knife, 16gb flashdrive, notepad, mechanical pencils w/ extra lead, pen, scientific calculator, Many dice. (and anything else i've forgotten that i always carry)
Sparks: 1)Mage 2)hunter 3)anything else

Name: Marshal Hammond (Prometheus) Virtue: Prudence (Never one to leap with out first checking the wind speed, distance to be leaped, and the quality of his shoes.) Okay, so Rogue Trader has ended and this topic has bounced back onto my radar. If you would like to build a character, give me a shout: I am looking to deal with many elements of death in the narrative, including the spirit world, achieving immortality, and yes, zombies. I am still looking for PCs, and I will be working on the first mission in the very near future.

Just post the idea here and I'll okay it or not, or talk to me on Wed at character creation. This is still totally open.

Name: Tiberius/Aquilius (Dependent on personality) Virtue: Fortitude Vice: Lust (but not for sex, because everyone who picks lust does it for sex. He has an adrenaline lust.)
Back-story: Born and sired into the Ventrue vampire clan in the old days of Rome, somewhere along the way Tiberius (or Aquilius, it is unclear whom the original one was) touched minds with a Malkovian. As a result he became like all others who had undergone this process, incurably insane. At this point the "other" appeared. He isn't to clear himself on which of his two personalities came first. Over his many years in life, he has experienced many "Torpors" vampiric sleeps that gradually weaken a vampire. He has just emerged from his latest, leaving him very weak, and had stowed away on a truck to Dog Hollows for reasons he's not even quite sure of.
Possessions: Dress clothing (a nice suit), A small amount of money. A similar amount of Roman coins, and a small pistol (read, any autoloader that makes sense as a starting weapon).
Spark: 1. Vampire 2. Anything else.
My thoughts so far, if it doesn't work or needs changing let me know.

Works for me so long as he is essentially human at the beginning of the campaign.

Do you mean in strength/power or sanity? Because one will be far easier to do then the other

I am running paranoia rather than WoD, so this project is once again on the back burner.
