I'm feeling creative and am working on writing up my two builds right now. Anybody know the policy on flaws and traits in the campaign?

you can take the UA flaws or mine, 2-3, as for traits I plan on handing out to of them and a feat of my choice to you once your build is done. (the feat is flavour mostly, like dash, or sea legs)

Are there any Mongol or Hun like folk around? I read the details in the thread but didn't see anything like them. If so, I can post a character concept and back story later tonight. If not I'll have to rethink the character some.

I have the Horse Lords, there could well be tribes of 'wilder' men who live there and are not of the cities, but of the plans, or simply human tribes from the savanna who live in 'catfolk lands'.

This is the write up for my cavalry archer build. Since Adrian's got marshal covered, and I actually like this guy better anyway, this will be my eventual character unless things change:
Assuming lvl 8 by the time I join
Gantulga:
Scout 3/ Ranger 2/ Scout 1/ Ranger 2 (Rest Ranger + Wildplains Outrider)
Str 16, Dex 18, Con 14, Int 10, Wis 10, Cha 8
Class: Noble (Skill Focus Knowledge: Local)
Origin: Farm boy (for all the good that does me)
Feats: 1. Mounted Combat 1. Ride-by Attack 1. Point Blank Shot (Flaw) 1. Mounted Archery (Flaw) 1. Imp. Mounted Archery (Flaw) 1. Leg Breaker (DM bonus) 3. Spirited Charge 4. Track (Ranger) 5. Rapid Shot (Ranger) 6. Swift Hunter 6. Improved Skirmish (Scout Bonus) 7. Endurance (Ranger) 8. Precise Shot (Ranger Bonus)
Flaws
Bum Leg: (Gantulga was injured during the destruction of his tribe, the wound never fully healed.)
Vulnerable: (Overconfident in combat and has a tendency to show off)
Pathetic (cha): (While sociable enough, Gantulga's unrepentant barbaric customs and morals are off-putting to many, as is his boastful personality.)
Skills Ride, Survival, Spot, Hide, Move Silently maxed. Rest split wherever I feel like.
Traits
Saddle born: Horses are an essential commodity among Gantulga's people, making him an experienced rider. However, the animals are considered more as tools than companions, and are treated as such.
Illiterate: The tribes are disdainful of writing, dismissing it as unmanly and unnecessary for life on the plains.
Equipment M. Composite Longbow (+3str), M. Greatsword, M. Lance, M. Studded Leather Armour, various adventuring gear
Combat Relies heavily on mounted combat, using both bow and lance.
Composite Longbow (3 strength): +10/+10/+5 1d8+3 +4d6 skirmish
Lance: +12/+7 (+14 on charge) 1d8+4 (x3 on charge) +4d6 skirmish
When on foot uses bow and greatsword
AC: 20 (24 while skirmishing): 3 armour, 4 dex, 4 misc. character level bonus, - 1 flaw
Backstory
Born the son of a tribal chieftain in the wild lands around the city of Rohn, Gantulga was raised in the saddle. Life on the plains is never easy, and weakness and timidity is only rewarded with death. As such, Gantulga, like all children in the tribes, learned to hunt, ride, and fight from an early age.
Mortality rates of children are high among the tribes, and Gantulga soon became accustomed to both loss and death, though these tragedies served also to make him cherish life all the more. The demanding existence of the tribe ensured that teamwork and cooperation were engrained into the very being of every member, and those that sacrificed for others were held in high esteem. At the same time, those who failed to contribute, due to incompetence, unwillingness, injury, or advanced age, soon found themselves outcast and abandoned. There is little room for compassion or charity when starvation or violence is never far away.
Due to his high station and emerging talent, Gantulga led his first raiding party at the age of 14, looting a merchant caravan before disappearing back into the unending plains. His success earned him great acclaim from the rest of the tribe, as well as the official acceptance and patronage of his father, who formally declared him his successor. In honour of his victory, his father presented him with a gold band, the mark of a proven war leader.
For the next 3 years, Gantulga continued to be his father’s right-hand man, helping to lead his people in both war and peace. His success culminated in a political marriage with another chieftain’s daughter, promising him the eventual command of both tribes. As dowry, Gantulga was presented with a magnificent stallion, a noble gift that served to further elevate the night of celebration. So exuberant and joyous was the event that the sentries were drunk at their posts when the Horselord force descended on the unprepared tribes. In the chaotic melee that followed the chieftains of both tribes were killed, along with the majority of their warriors. What few survivors there were fled into the wilderness, hotly pursued by horselord riders determined to end the tribe’s raiding once and for all. Among these was Gantulga, wounded in the leg and nearly unconscious from blood loss.
With no family, no friends, and no tribe, Gantulga has wandered the world for 2 years. Sometimes he found work as a bodyguard, hired muscle, or a guide, but he never stays in one place for long. All he carries with him from those years of his life when he had a place in the world is his golden armband, the horse that was given to him on that fateful night, and his people’s grim determination to keep living.

Yeah, the low-magic mounted archer build is fairly standard across the board, eh.
Things to keep in mind with mounted archers in low/no [Woo, practical experience let's me make helpful tips]:
1) Tricksy people wrote errata after someone hopped on a horse. For Skirmish, your options are Works only when mounted, or doesn't work while mounted at all. (This is a sad thing, but fair.)
2) Windrider has the coolest flavor ability ever in the 'Appraise Horse' prestige class feature. Might be worth a look if it suits you. [Emir, you cad.]
3) Skirmish is going to blow past any influence strength has on your damage after third level. You also have the benefit of 'magical saddlebags'. You could probably drop your STR to 12 or even 10 and feel none the worse for wear, depending on how much you really want to use that lance and how integral that massive STR is to your idea of a character. If you do reduce it (I'd honestly suggest dropping it to 14 and bumping INT to 14. See next post.
4) Spare skills: Totally necessary: Heal, Handle Animal. If you lose your mount, problems. Handle Animal opens up many, many doors and is required by a bunch of mounted prestige classes you may want to eventually take or dip into. Would probably be nice: Knoweldge(Nature), Craft (Woodworking)[Arrow Upkeep. Be able to take 10 and hit 20.]

1. I missed that erata. Wherever it is I would obviously choose mounted skirmish
2. I don't want to reduce skirmish anymore than neccisary by taking lvls outside of scout or ranger. Wild plains outrider is only 3 lvls and I might only take 1 or 2 of those
3. Skirmish is not multiplied during a charge while strength is and also adds to accuracy. My 9th lvl feat will be power attack so any extra to hit will be very useful. This character will use a lance just as often as a bow.
4. This is not a traditional ranger or scout in the sense that Hawkeye was. Being heavily Mongol flavoured, Gantulga is a warrior above all else. Horses are resources and symbols of wealth, not friends or companions, Healing and crafting are for those too weak or old to fight. Granted, this attitude will probably come back to bite him in the ass, but flaws are what makes a character fun.

Does anyone know of any Prestige classes based on AoOs I can work myself into in the next couple of levels?

For the life of me, I can't think of AoO specific PrCs...
So just to make sure, we're good for today, ya?
Now I'm super mad that I didn't take flaws. Wahrwwerobauhfeubflwighwreg. And suddenly the players notice an intense personality shift in the marshal, and they remember parts of his backstory that weren't mentioned earlier... XD
