Steve, eat his forest!
Yaaa, I thought it was really funny. I love me some MtG, but i really hate when people get to in to it, though I do not hate them.... I just hate playing with them. You know, like how some people enjoy power gaming and others love the fluff... both are fair and fine.... but kind of oil and water.

Hi there,
My name is John-Michael, I am a second year student at McMaster. I introduced myself here on the forum, and I've been trying to get in contact with someone, but I am being given the run-around, and my e-mails are not being answered.
I was one of the first people to sign up on clubs day, but I guess my name and email address weren't transfered by whoever is responsible for that. There was a post left here on the forums in the Announcements section (which looked like a copy of an e-mail sent out) posted by a user named "Nygil, Nickolie" who said it was on Fridays. That post has conveniently been removed since my post last night.
I don't know if I rubbed someone the wrong way, or what the issue is. I'm new here, I commute to Hamilton every day, I don't know anyone and it would be really sad if there was a conscious attempt to cut me out. I'm not going anywhere, I can promise you that.
Thanks,
JMS

No we aren't trying to cut you out. Basically to explain what happened is that we now have an Exec for Public Affairs who should have updated the new e-mailing list for the club but due to the fact that the first person who had the e-mailing list apparently sent it to him in a horridly disorganized fashion (It's also combined with the LAN club mailing list) and also because we have a lot of new members, he hasn't been able to update the list onto the Nerd Club e-mail as of yet. The reason Nygil probably mentioned Fridays is because we're planning on having DCI sanctioned Friday Night Magics but seeing as how we haven't gotten sanctioned yet, I'm trying to avoid telling people that Magic is on Friday (it will be in the future, hopefully, but isn't as of right now)
As soon as the mailing list is updated, and I've been bugging him to do it pretty much every day, I'll send another e-mail regarding Magic for all of the new members as well as the old ones who haven't received it.

Thank you for your prompt response! ;D
Just to clarify, the schedule of events I saw posted in the Announcements section (which like I said, has been deleted), said Tuesdays at 7 (or sooner) and Fridays at 7 (or sooner). I don't remember there being any mention of Magic on Thursdays.
I wrote my name and my mcmaster e-mail very clearly on the list. If you need it again, just let me know who to give it to and I can make sure they get it. I was mainly frustrated because last week I came on here and said I wish I had known about the planned events sooner, and when I came back there was a message telling me about the planned events, but as you've now explained, that message contained incorrect information.
Thanks so much for clarifying; I sincerely appreciate it.
seeyou soon,
-JMS

Hey, ya the friday thing was my fault. we agreed at the meeting that we would be doing fridays... i just missed the part where it would not be starting yet.
As for the post i deleted, yaa i took down a bunch that were out dated I do regular clean up on here.
Yaaa, Alex (Xenadrael) he is the guy in charge of MtG so he is the guy with all the answers.
As for the thrusday night magic, that is what we did last year (and like the 9 years before that) so while it is not officially an event we are hosting... it totally still happens i guess.
tl;dr - sorry, I was wrong. Listen to Alex (Xenadrael) he is the guy in charge of MtG.

I wrote my name and my mcmaster e-mail very clearly on the list. If you need it again, just let me know who to give it to and I can make sure they get it. I haven't personally seen what the problem was but from what I've heard and from my own reasoning, I think it's something along these lines: First off, everyone wrote their information down during clubfest (note this is by pen on paper) then Q had to type up all of the information in order to have it accessible online. Apparently during this process, he didn't bother to organize the names and emails in any fashion nor did he separate the LAN club members from the Nerd Club members(?) so when he sent this list to John, our "Party Face", John had a hard time converting this list into contactable well...contacts on our mailing list. I only heard about this problem recently and I've "sent" him some help but he seems to be busy this weekend so I guess we'll have to hope that it will be ready by Wednesday.

I appreciate you taking the tim to explain this; it makes more sense now why many of us have been in the dark.
Out of curiosity: How many people signed up? Perhaps I'm a bit naïve and out-of-touch when it comes to the current popularity of these games among the 18-25 demographic, but the way you describe it sounds like there was a huge turnout.
best,
