On this day we are hoping to get a large handful of you folks out. We want to have a good time, and to get to know each other. I will be talking to some of the other nerdy clubs and inviting them to join us.
As for where, and what we will be doing, that is sort of up to you. We will have food? games? MtG? prizes? what do you think?

I think you need to get a new picture. I think it's a fantastic idea, but where would it happen? Would we need a large enough area that we'd have to book a room? More? I super want to have board games... I miss playing board games. <3

Things that would be easy and quick to get into that our club does regularly would be nice. Giving people a quick look at the things we do and giving people from different sections of the club to try out another branch.
Board Games (Suggestion against Risk or Monopoly due to the length of time the games take.) Simple MTG (Premade deck sets?) Possibly a DnD module with premade characters. No idea how complex Warhammer is. Would it be a "Starter Army"?

Liz wants to focus on stuff that gets people to hang out, and meet each other. I like the idea of a few things like Jesse said, and ya Ashley and I did a 'starter' teach you the rules styled game just last night so I know it can be done.
I am thinking club space, and or some rooms upstairs on the third floor of the student center

club space seems like a good place, no one really uses it and it is a large enough space

Great, Liz and I are settling details for this now, hopefully in the next two days we will be sending out the plan and some more thoughts in an email, well we will get one of our VP minions to do it for us.
We will have a Warhammer table for new players, and space for a few full scale games if anyone wants.
We will have a table for magic players, and space with per made decks and FREE starter cards for new players to learn and get there stuff started with out dropping a cent.
We will also be running an intro game to dnd, a 3.5 home made module custom for new players, but fun for those who know what they are doing. (Starting at level 1)
We will also have other tables, some board games, and maybe a bit of anime off to one side.
Afterward, not official like, some of use will be heading out to either Hess Village or someones house (we will see) for something of an after party for those who are of age.
We are still open to new ideas and if you want to take part, or just offer thoughts feel free.
OH! Also pizza and pop will be provided (Yes we will feed you). We are also thinking about door prizes, or draws.

which other nerdy clubs are we extending an invitation to? and which have agreed to show up? other fun stuff could include: setting up a small tv with video games (the true classics) maybe a competition or two (not sure quite what but prizes are fun, maybe hidden talents?!? who ever can wow the judges the most) does anyone have dance dance revolution? cause that could be awesome AND a competition!

lol oh peachey, DDR. I'm bringin my Eldar then, I expect to see somethin from you Nyg. (Also, i need superglue XD)
We shouldn't have too much, because people may be overwhelmed by choice, and we might have tiny groups forming. So I think it's best to limit it to a few activities. If all goes well, we can even be like, "Hey peeps, watch this!" and build a crowd around something.

This sounds like a good plan. I want to have a lot of events there, but only a few going at a time, pending on how many people are there. I am going to send out a club wide email as soon as liz checks it over.

Around what time is the "offical" event ending?

I will be unable to attend this, as I have a first-aid/CPR course on that day, however, I expect Nygil to do me proud on the Warhammer front.
It is of note, that 750pts is about right for a starter game...also, I'd try to put just infantry on the board for a starter game- fast moving units and the like get confusing for new players. (Or you could do a 2000 vs. 2000 game and split the two armies between ppl, they do that at the GW stores sometimes.)
Anyways- would have totally loved to be there, but alas, I must prioritize.

Thanks, I have been teaching this game for a while now, and I have a plan to put together two armies together of closer to 500 points. I will go over the basics, and I do have the starter set mini handbook as well as the 'how to start' explanation page as well, so I should have all I need to show them the basics, and then play a starter game.
Anyway sad to see you can't be there, but with any luck we will be doing this kinda thing ever couple of weeks from now on.
