This is a great time for NEW PLAYERS to get into wargaming for the low, low cost of absolutley FREE. See the Necromunda section of this E-mail for details.
Just thought I'd put that out there, now: Greetings fellow nerdlings. This is Dane, the Warhammer Exec. and I am available over the summer to host wargames.
Details:
Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, and Warmachine:
I will be running casual Warhammer and Warmachine - I don't know what the details will be yet, but essentially, I am up for playing the occasional game.
Necromunda:
Necromunda is a gang-based wargame requiring about 10 models from the GW range (all of which will be provided to players who don't have their own.) and is unique in that it maintains changes to a gang, in a similar manner to D&D leveling and gear/loot/stash system. In Necromunda, if a fighter loses an arm, this affects him until he dies, or is replaced- if he performs well, he levels up, gains new gear, new skills, and improves old abilities. In addition to this, gangs manage territory, have an income, barter for slaves and hirelings, pay ransom to reclaim fallen gang-members, and salvage powerful weapons.
Another beautiful thing about Necromunda, well there are a few- Small game size means the time investment, and space requirements for the game, are less. As an older game, all the rulebooks are online, and free- if you have a program such as BitTorrent, you can torrent the rules, and many community and house rules: here: thepiratebay.org/torrent/5643764/Necromunda_Collection. The Torrent is clean- I have it on my computer right now, but it does come with a flurry of rules that might bog down the casual wargamer- the file you want to look at if you are new is: Necromunda_Hardback_Compilation. (Ignore the attrocious cover-art)
In addition to the Free-ness of Necromunda, the game has a wonderful community, and a devoted following, meaning that there is a website designed for running campaigns and keeping tack of Gang Rosters. This website is www.yakromunda.com/index.php?page=intro.
In addition to all of this, Necromunda stands out in its ability to be customized to the desired player experience. If you want to play a normal hive-gang, that's all well n' good and should be a great starting point for new players. Alternatively, if you are a more experienced player, or if you want to play a different style, or team, contact me, and I will go through the design process with you. Examples of teams: Ork warband, Grot warband, Lone Necron Wraith, Eldar/D. Eldar Rangers, Vampire-lead Undead, Stranded Imperial Guard Squad, Genestealer Cult, Adeptus Mechanicus Cult of the Machine, Lone Space Marine, Lone Chaos Space Marine, Demons, Mutants, Skaven, and basically anything else you can think of that even loosly fits into 40k fluff. Tau warriors? Kroot? Vespids even? Just ask.
If you are interested in playing this summer:
Step 1) Download the rules, give them a look-over, see if you like them. (Or jump to step two if you want to worry about the specifics of the rules later.)
Step 2) Make an account at Yakromunda, www.yakromunda.com/index.php?page=intro.
Step 3) Email us at Mac.Nerdclub@gmail.com: BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR USERNAME FOR YOUR YAKROMUNDA ACCOUNT, I need this to add you to our summer campaign. Do not include your password.
Step 4) If you are comfortable you understand the rules, make a gang. (If it is a custom gang, contact me first.)
Step 5) If you don't understand the rules, are new to wargaming or are just lazy right now, either contact me if you want to get started, or wait until the summer and I will send around an E-mail inviting you to an organizing session.
Best of luck on Exams, and any assignments that may still remain on your to-do list.
Daniel T. Moore: In charge of things that require models, atleast until deposed.
