Hawkeye's background needs the name of a large, inhospitable mountain.

Incomming wall of text: (By the way, anyone who can name the character this guy is heavily based on gets a cookie) John Hartigan:John Hartigan was born the second eldest child of one of the many poor families that scrape together a living in the slums of Matak. His father, a watchman, died in the line of duty when John was three, leaving the family to survive off of his small pension and whatever money his mother could make working as a washerwoman. Despite their harsh existence, John’s mother managed to raise enough money to give her son a basic education, allowing him to learn to read, write, and perform basic sums. Like most children in the area, John joined a gang at an early age in order to help support his family and protect his street from the aggression of rival gangs. In the alleys and gutters of the slums there was no room for fair fighting. Anything was a weapon and anywhere was a target. John quickly learned to fight hard and dirty, doing whatever it took to survive. When he was 17, he followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the city watch, being promoted to sergeant before his 22nd birthday. For 17 years he walked the streets of Matak, and soon developed a reputation for being a just and honest watchman. Elsewhere such a reputation would have helped ensure John’s continued advancement in the watch, but the criminals owned Matak and John showed an alarming tendency not to play by their rules. John couldn’t be bribed, but his superiors had been bought and paid for a long time ago. Promotion would be promised but never given, criminals that John brought in were quickly discharged, and the city festered. On his 34th birthday, John succeeded in catching one of the biggest drug lords in the city red-handed in one of her warehouses. With enough evidence on hand to prove her guilt beyond any doubt, John hoped that he was finally making some headway against the criminal underworld. When the drug lord walked free the next day, John punched out his CO and was quickly drummed out of the watch. Despite his past, John still has a deep seated belief in the importance of upholding the law. He has seen too many people used and mistreated by criminals and corrupt officials to believe that justice can exist in a society without public guardians. John’s greatest desire is to someday return to Matak and bring those that promote its corruption to justice.

Do I just use survival for fishing or do I need to take profession fisherman?

That.. really depends.
My perspective:
Survival covers "Outdoors", and thus I would say covers Lake and River fishing, which is what I assume you want. (See the Net and Block and Tackle items.)
I'd say Profession(Fisherman) would involve a boat and large nets, etc.

Hmmm I wonder if a fishing pole would be a simple, martial, or exotic weapon. They can get pretty complicated...

Survival for food, Profession for cash. If you put 5 or more ranks in Profession fisher, you get a +2 bonus on survival checks to catch food near water.
As for simple, martial, or exotic weapon..... its not really a weapon.

First....spear fishing.
Second.....a creative PC could probably find a way to use a spiked chain for fishing.

Densewood (hardness/hitpoints of stone, double weight) fishing rod/quarterstaff (there is a quarterstaff bow in some book, don't see why this can't work).
Spiked chains and spears peh, whip-dagger.
Current race plan is either Half-Orc or human/elf disguised as an orc, because "Orc, must be the fighter, couldn't possibly be the rogue"

Should probably mention that my guy will be pretty strait forward melee dps with a hint of tank. Hopefully someone else plays a melee character as well because I need a flanking buddy!
