I am Nygil. I am something of a non official Nerd Club executive. I am here to help out where helping is needed. I am going to give the briefest straight forward chunk of info for new members I can string together.
First, we are always looking for new things. New games, new hobbies, new people, new places to do things and new sponsors. If you have any of the above tell us.
We focus on MtG, Warhammer and DnD. We run a few other nerdy things, and if we get the player base for them we would be happy to run events for any board games or card games. First and for most
I think we are here to give you folks a chance to find people who like the same things you do and hook up with them in order to get games together.
We also plan on having some training for games, painting mini's and anything else you request.
I hope to have a Nerds Night Out once a month or so, where we get a handful of us together for the chance to hang out and mix the crowds from different games together, possible putting together entertainment.
We would love to see anyone interested, out at Casual Magic. We set up a few tables on the second floor of the Student centre above the large open space on most Tuesdays and Thursday's after 6 or 7. We get somewhere from 3 to 15 people out... well we did last year we may get more this year.
We have not started yet but should before the end of the month. Also Alex will be hosting Drafting and Tournaments as we move forward as well.
As for DnD, we will be doing a 3.5 game this year. We do things a little different though. We have some where from 10 to 40 players, and 3-6 DM's this year. We plan on having DnD on Wednesdays and Sundays later in the day. We will not give out Exp to players instead the players level up on set dates, so we will have players all at the same level even if they miss a day or two. Now, we do not play in a huge group... that would never work. Instead each day we play the players who are there split up in to parties, so you are not always with the same people, then each party goes off to a DM who has a game ready for the right level for the day. The whole thing will share one big story over the year, and will end in a grand battle that ever one has a hand in, in some way.
We did this last year, people loved it. We start at level 3. We will have a set date to start... not sure what that date is yet mind you. We will also have a day to help players make characters before then if they want it.
As for warhammer, both my self and the other warhammer players would be happy to teach, I know we have two or three spare armies between use. We will likely have weekly events for warhammer as well, but that is not set up just yet either.
Keep an eye out on the website for updates and details, as we should be posting them up there as we figure this out.
Lastly if you are confused by this rant like message I posted at 11pm on a Thursday that is understandable. If you have questions ask here, or Email us at our Gmail account mac.nerdclub@gmail.com we would be happy to answer anything you want to know.
Welcome to Nerd Club,
Cheers,
