For me figuring out what to play, another question:
Does the bard have a lot of skills? (Especially Knowledges and Party Skills in Particular.) (Like Search, Open Lock, etc.)

Bard gets all knowledges, though I personally don't see the point of investing more than 5 ranks in each for the synergy bonuses, what with bardic knowledge and all. It also gets all the social skills, but not the party skills. Those are the domain of rogues.

Allow me to be more clear.
Does YOUR bard plan to have strong ranks in skills?
(I'd like to avoid having the same abilities as someone else.)
A small Addendum for anyone curious as to why Truenamers are considered really poor:
To affect a creature with Truename magic, for starters, most of the time they get a save. In addition to that, the PC needs to pass a skill check equal to DC 15 plus 2 times the creatures CR. You have to do this even if you want to affect yourself. That check difficulty balloons up really, really quickly, and increases further every time you actually sucessfully affect something. And if you want to say, Quicken. DC + 20. (Euuugh.)

I'll have extra good bardic knowledge, but other than maxed out ride, perform, disguise and the social skills, I won't have any skills other than 5 ranks in Knowledge (history) and Knowledge (nobility).
It's not that I don't love the combat you guys can whip up, but if I don't get a chance to infiltrate a prestigious social gathering next year, I'm going to be disappointed.
BTW, which is the better skill trick: Assume Quirk (Familiar viewers get no bonus to see through your disguise), Second Impression (Make Bluff check to reestablish blown disguise) or Social Recovery (Make Bluff check to replace a failed Diplomacy check), given that I intend to be a lying bastard?

All of the above, seriously they're two skill points each.
In terms of skills my guy will have decent social skills, though only intimidate is likely to be maxed out.

Ah, but prestiging into Warchanter costs me 2 points per level....although, if we were playing til level 18, I could put that off another 2 levels and continue in bard til level 8 to get all 3......or I could just put less points into Diplomacy, seeing I get +6 from synergies alone. Decisions, decisions, decisions.....

I'll probably play my runemage then. Pure utility with a side of non-social skills.

A quick listing of the characters we have this year so far and what they can do: (If anything should be added or corrected, let me know. I'll probably want to make this into a thread after we get more replies.)
Paladin/Marshal Intimidator, Leader, Tank, Aura Bard/Warchanter: Social Skills, Area Buffs Wizard/Runesmith/Geometer: Some Knowledges, Languages, Crafting and Script Based Skills, Utility Magic.
Things nobody currently has (Again, Correct me if I'm wrong or tell me if I forget something major here.):
Stealth Damage Debuffs Battlefield Control/Summons AoE/Blasts Healing Spot/Listen/Initiative

Well, I've got maximized Disguise and Bluff, so I might be able to get some 'infiltration' in. And with those 5 ranks in history, I Bardic Knowledge for only 1 less than if I had maximized ranks in everything. In fact, if I'm identifying a monster and it's abilities, I Bardic Knowledge at maxed ranks plus 4 thanks to 'Collector of Stories'. I think Warchanter will also get me a few debuffs, but they're fear-based and later level.
What we need is Wurg 2.0......

Minor point, but I'll also be capable of maintaining 6 auras at a time once I hit lvl 12 so I'll be capable of fairly considerable party buffing.

There is abnormally large synergy between these three characters if the utility mage picks up some mass summoning spells.

Like I said, we need Wurg 2.0 to complete the set; buff him up alongside a few mooks and send them all into the fray.
Well, Wurg 2.0 and a healer.
BTW, the bonuses of the marshal aren't morale bonuses, right? They won't stack with my bonuses otherwise.

To my knowledge they are either untyped or competence.
